Location Based Services (LBS) empowers you with the capability to find the geographical location of a certain mobile device. Based on this location, customized services will be provided using our Mobile Network.

It determines the location of the user by using one of several technologies for determining a position, and then uses the location and other information to provide personalized applications and services. Such a service would be extremely useful, especially to users who are far from home and don't know local landmarks.

Other services can combine present location with information about personal preferences to help users find restaurants, lodging, and entertainment. Etisalat is offering two innovative applications of Location Based Service:

“Mobile Map”
Finding “Nearest” points of interest.

Features

Mobile Map Service: enables you to get your location through an SMS with place name and WAP link to view the map. Alternatively you can receive MMS with maps of your location and send maps of your location to your family, friends and business partners by MMS or email.
Finding "Nearest" Points of Interest Service: enables you to find the nearest ATM machine, Petrol Station, Hotel, Restaurant and lots of the other interesting places surrounding you. You can use the service via SMS where you will receive the name of five different places around you with a WAP link to view the maps of these places. Additionally, you can receive MMS with maps of five places near your current location.

How to Subscribe

You can start using LBS services directly and without any subscription charges.

If you are a Non-subscribed eWAP user, you can subscribe free of charge by sending “a weyak” to 1010, to be able to view maps over WAP.

If you are a Non-MMS subscriber, you can subscribe by sending “r mms” to 1010, to be able to receive maps via MMS.

Documents Required

No documents are required to subscribe to this service.

Specification Details

Mobile Map: Receiving location via SMS
1. Send “m” to 1333. 2. You will receive your location address and a WAP link to access the location. 3. Choose “open link” from your phone message options to view the map over the WAP.
Mobile Map: Receiving location via MMS
1. Send “m mms” to 1333. 2. You will receive MMS of your location with three zooming levels and a code to view the map over the Internet. 3. Choose “open link” from your phone message options to view the map over the WAP.
Mobile Map: Send your location to a friend via MMS
1. Send “m 050xxxxxxx mms” to 1333 where 'xxxxxxx' is your mobile number. 2. Your friend will receive an MMS of your location with three zooming levels and a code to view the map over the Internet. 3. You will receive an SMS with your location name and a code to view the location over the Internet.
Mobile Map: View your location over WEB or WAP
1. To view your location via Web: please visit www.weyak.ae/lbs and follow Mobile Map Link. 2. To view your location via WAP: once you receive your location via SMS, Click on the provided link or choose “open link” from the message options.
Using LBS service over WEB or WAP
To enjoy a larger view of the maps, view them over the Web at www.weyak.ae/lbs or simply view them through WAP by visiting LBS section at mobile.weyak.ae . Use your mobile number as a username and the code that was sent to you by SMS or MMS to access the maps you requested.
