Now you don’t always have to call people to keep in touch with them. Our Fixed line texting (SMS) service extends the benefits of text messaging to more people. You can enjoy all the benefits of SMS through your mobile phone or your fixed line phone. With an SMS-enabled phone you can receive and sent text messages from your fixed line. You can also send text messages to fax machines (Local) and email addresses.

With an SMS-enabled handset you can:

• Convenience: Fixed line users can now send and receive SMS texts.

• Flexibility: You can send and receive text messages using either the mobile phone or the fixed line phones.

• Economical: Messages received are always free.

If you would like to activate your SMS-enabled handset for text messaging, please enter the Service Centre number 400 4400.   You only need to do this once.

Receiving Text Messages

To receive text messages you need to have an SMS enabled phone and a Caller ID (CLIP) subscription on your fixed line.

Note: SMS texting is automatically available to new fixed-line subscribers. If you have 0/00 call-barring activated, you will not be able to send SMS messages.

Sending messages

You can use the following different options to send message from your fixed line.

1- To non SMS-enabled fixed line phones

Text-to-speech technology is used to convert a text to a voice message.

2- To a fax machine

Compose your text message and put 010+area code+the destination number.

3- To an email address

Compose the message, put the email address in the subject heading and send the message to short code 1234.    

UAE mobile users roaming overseas can send and receive texts from fixed line users in the UAE.

4- To send a text to a national or international number

National Number

Compose the text message andsend the message to the area code followed by the destination number.

International Number

For international numbers send the message to 00+country code+area code followed by the destination number.

Subscribing to Fixed Line SMS is completely free of cost. However, If you would like to activate your SMS-enabled handset for text messaging, please enter the Service Centre number 400 4400. You only need to do this once. There are no charges for the activation of the service as well.
This service is automatically available to all new fixed-line subscribers. (Please note that if you have 0/00 call-barring activated, you will not be able to send SMS messages).
